This one dad lifting is a guy who has been training consistently since 2000 when he met his amazing future wife and mother of his two kids. Several years as an endurance athlete - Ironman triathlons, 24-hour and 72-hour adventure races, and now a couple ultra runs (50 mile distance) were the norm. Nowadays, it's all about the iron. Lifting in my own garage has been a labor of love. Starting small and building out has worked well for me. Kettlebells to powerlifting, it's been tough fun.
Prior to that was an 8-year period as couch potato vegetarian. Promulgating the health benefits of not eating meat, but eating all the dairy and carbs a guy could stuff in his face. Not quite overweight, but skinny-fat for sure, strength training meant doing a few push-ups once a week because he needed the 'chest-pump'. Maybe a run or two.
After my daughter was born, a fire was started. Realizing I wasn't getting younger, and that I might have the most beautiful daughter in all the land, it was time to start lifting weights and be the intimidating dad any dad should be for potential suitors. It was time to get tatted out, put on some muscle, and develop a grimace. Project Scary Dad was born.
